Why Toyota’s New Plano HQ is Good for Local Job Seekers
Ever since Toyota announced plans to build its new North American headquarters in the Dallas area, homes in Frisco TX have been in high demand. About 4,000 Toyota employees in California, Kentucky and New York have been asked to relocate to the West Plano campus, which is scheduled to open this May.
Toyota’s new HQ has already had a positive effect on the local economy. More than 1,600 workers have been constructing the seven buildings which make up the 100-acre campus, located near the Dallas North Tollway and Legacy Drive.
Toyota is currently in the process of hiring more than 1,000 local Texans for jobs at the new headquarters. Most of the jobs currently being sought by the company are in the areas of finance, quality engineering, information systems, and sales and marketing. The campus may also attract suppliers and contractors who will bring additional jobs to the site.
About 70 percent of Toyota employees are expected to relocate to the Plano area, thanks in part to a generous relocation package offered by the automaker. Toyota CEO James Lentz has also said that the Dallas area itself was a factor. The community’s excellent schools, outstanding arts and entertainment, and affordable housing have proven to be an attractive draw.
