Prepare Your Home for the Summer Selling Season

Summer is coming and that means the market for Frisco TX new homes will be heating up! Spring and summer mark the peak season for home sales. If you plan to put your home on the market this summer, you can attract more buyers with these tips:

Maximize curb appeal.

Start mowing the lawn as soon as growth begins in the spring. Mow often so clippings don’t build up in unsightly clumps. Keep edges trimmed along sidewalks, driveways and garden beds. Pull weeds from garden beds regularly. For a finishing touch, add some colorful annual flowers in garden beds, containers or hanging baskets.

Highlight outdoor spaces.

Freshen up play areas, outdoor dining spots, swimming pools, fire pits and other spaces that will appeal to summer buyers. If your outdoor furniture is faded or lackluster, try washing or repainting it and adding colorful new cushions.

Let the sunshine in.

Indoors, make the most of the season’s bright sunshine. Clean curtains or replace heavy draperies with sheers or light fabrics. Clean blinds and windows. When potential buyers come for a daytime tour, open the window coverings to let light in. If the view isn’t so great, use sheers to screen it while still letting light in.

Change interior décor.

Make sure all signs of winter are put away including holiday and snowman-themed décor, heavy throws, thick rugs and winter boots. Put out spring or summer décor. Replace winter throws and bedspreads with lightweight, cheerily colored fabrics.

Be cool.

When buyers come for showings, make sure your home is a pleasant temperature and not stuffy or sweltering. Use the air conditioner, ceiling fans, or open the windows to let a breeze in. Be sure to clean fans and change filters on air conditioners before you use them.

Keep it clean.

Give your home a deep cleaning when you decide to sell it, and then keep it clean throughout the sales period. Clean the carpets and touch up the paint if necessary. These steps will give your home that fresh-as-summer feeling inside and out to attract home buyers!
