The In-Depth Guide to Living in Prosper TX

Looking for a laid-back place to live in North Texas that allows you to take advantage of the upscale lifestyle of Frisco and Dallas? Living in Prosper TX offers a great mix of small-town charm and economic opportunity.

Ideal location

Prosper is just north of Frisco and about 35 miles north of Dallas. That location allows direct access to employment, shopping and entertainment options in Frisco, while providing a quieter place to retreat to at the end of the day. The Dallas North Tollway provides a direct route downtown for commuting or attending cultural events.

Thriving economy

Yes, Prosper lives up to its name! Because of its location near numerous high-level employers, the town is one of America’s most affluent suburbs. The median household income here is about $195,000, which is more than $100,000 above the national average. More career options are coming to Prosper as the area continues to be developed. But don’t worry – local planners are taking care to manage that growth to attract new opportunities while preserving the area’s special charm.

Shopping and dining

Prosper is adjacent to Frisco, where a seemingly endless array of shopping and dining options await. You won’t have to go far to find everything from basic groceries and pet supplies to upscale clothing, home goods and cosmetics.

The same is true for restaurants. Whether you need a quick bite from the drive-through or you want to celebrate a special occasion in style, the right place is within a few minutes of home.

Top-rated schools

Prosper ISD is highly rated by the Texas Education Agency, earning a score of 90 out of 100. Students score well above state averages on standardized tests of reading and math proficiency. The district also has an A rating from Niche.com, getting an A+ for its college prep courses. It’s worth noting that Prosper itself earns an A+ from the site, and is rated as an especially good place to raise a family.

Recreation

When it’s time to relax in Prosper, you’ll find plenty of fun things to do. The town maintains numerous parks. Frontier Park is one of the most popular. Covering almost 80 acres, it has facilities for all ages. Kids will enjoy the playground and splash pad, while everyone can use the catch-and-release fishing pond, walking and biking trails, sports fields and batting cages.

The town encourages a strong community spirit with farmer’s markets and special events like the annual Founders Fest in May, Celebrate Prosper in October and the Prosper Christmas Festival in December.
