Little Elm Lands on Top 10 List of Best Small Cities for Families in U.S

NerdWallet recently ranked Little Elm #9 on its list of best small cities for families in the United States. The personal finance website cited the fact that nearly 54 percent of families in Little Elm have children under the age of 18 – the highest percentage in its list of top 10 cities.
NerdWallet based its findings on the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau, GreatSchools and Neighborhood Scout when reviewing 245 cities in the U.S. with populations between 25,000 and 100,000. The website analyzed home values and affordability, median annual income, growth and factors that families consider such as school quality and crime.
NerdWallet noted that Little Elm features over 66 miles of shoreline on Lake Lewisville, which makes this community ideal for those who love being near the water. The website also noted that Little Elm is growing quickly, with a 32 percent jump in population from 2009 to 2014. Another big factor in Little Elm’s favor with families is housing affordability. NerdWallet noted that homes in the city are the third-most affordable among the top cities, with a median home value of $159,200 in 2014.
