Halloween Safety Tips for Kids!
Halloween will be here before you know it. If this will be the first time your children go trick-or-treating from their new home in Frisco TX, it’s a good idea to review some safety tips with them. This way you’ll ensure that Halloween will be a fun time for the whole family.
Probably the most important safety rule when it comes to Halloween is making sure no one goes trick-or-treating alone. Your children should always walk in groups or with a trusted adult.
If your children will be out after dark, fasten reflective tape to their costumes and bags to help drivers see them. It’s also a good idea to carry flashlights with you while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you. Remind your children to always WALK and never run from house to house.
The fun thing about Halloween is dressing up in costumes. This is an area where safety needs to be a consideration too. Make sure that everyone wears well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls.
Frisco is a wonderful city, full of friendly people, but you still have to use common sense when going door to door. Tell your children they should only enter homes if they’re with you or another trusted adult. They should only visit well-lit houses, and avoid stopping at dark houses. Those homeowners are most likely away for the evening, or they just don’t want to hand out candy. And tell your children to NEVER accept rides from strangers.
Finally, make sure your kids keep an eye out for lit candles or luminaries, and walk far around them when they see any. Just to be safe, ensure that everyone is wearing flame-resistant costumes.
If you decide to host a Halloween party in your new home in Frisco TX, be sure walking areas and stairs are well-lit and free of obstacles that could result in falls. Keep any candle lit jack o’lanterns and luminaries away from doorsteps, walkways, landings and curtains. Those decorations should be placed on a sturdy table and kept out of reach of small children and pets. Better yet, use battery-powered lights in your jack o’lantern for extra safety.
