Design Trends to Look for in 2022

What can you expect to see in new homes for 2022 and beyond? These are some of the trends we think will be most popular:

Soft neutral colors

Designers and homeowners are ready to say goodbye to the cold gray walls that dominated interiors for the past several years. That trend has been replaced with soft, soothing colors in a spectrum from white to the palest beige.

Matching trim

Contrasting trim is out. In order to achieve a seamless look of serenity, the trim is painted the same color as the walls.

Plants

Nature comes alive indoors with an abundance of houseplants. To maintain a soft look, the pots are light-colored or placed inside baskets. Smaller plants can be placed in macramé hangers or on a deep windowsill.

Cozy textiles

Comfort is the key word for today’s fabric accents. Look for snuggle-worthy textiles such as oversized chunky knits, faux fur throws and plush velvet upholstery in muted colors.

Natural materials

For 2022 we’ll continue to see a rise in popularity of basketry, bare wood, natural textiles and other down-to-earth design details.
