Understanding Your Home Under Construction
The process of building an entire house may seem mysterious if you’ve never seen it firsthand. But actually, it follows a series of orderly steps. Landon Homes, an experienced new home builder in Frisco TX, has that process down to a science.
Here are the highlights of the Landon home-building process:
Before construction begins, the lot is released and prepared for building. Plumbing, cable and electric utilities are roughed in. Then the foundation forms are poured and floated.
Stage 1
The concrete slab is poured. Rough grading is done around the foundation. This stage gives you a good idea of your home’s footprint on the lot.
Stage 2
The house takes shape as framing is completed. All wall studs, floor joists, rafters and other lumber components are now in place. You’ll be able to see the locations of doors and windows after they’re framed in. Your fireplace will be installed.
Stage 3
Plumbing and gas lines are topped out. Exterior sheathing is applied, enclosing the house. Flashing, decking and windows are installed.
Stage 4
HVAC systems, electricity, structured wire and security systems are roughed in. The home’s exterior is cleaned and the city conducts inspections. With utilities in place, the walls and ceilings are insulated.
Stage 5
Sheetrock is applied on interior walls, making it much easier to visualize how your home is going to look inside. Brick is started on the outside. The home has its second exterior cleaning.
Stage 6
Decorative details start to appear as trim, cabinets and stairs are installed. Concrete patios, walks and the driveway are poured. Brick and stucco are completed and the exterior is cleaned again.
Stage 7
Excitement builds as your home gets closer to completion. Now the kitchen countertops are placed. Ceramic tile is laid. Painting is underway.
Stage 8
Utilities are finished and trimmed out. The decorative fireplace front is added. Shower doors and mirrors are put in place. Outside, gutters are hung and the fence is built around the back yard. The front yard comes to life after final grading and landscaping. The exterior of your home is now complete!
Stage 9
The inside of your new home is almost finished! Wood, carpet and vinyl floors are installed. Any needed painting is done. Your HVAC system is started so your house is comfortable from the moment you move in.
Stage 20
Quality assurance inspections are done and certificates are issued. You’ll take a final walk-through before your home is thoroughly cleaned prior to move-in. Now your new home is finished and ready for closing!
