Things to Consider When Choosing a Floor Plan
Choosing floor plans for Frisco TX new homes is an exciting step, but it can also be a bit daunting. How do you know if you’re choosing the right home design for you and your family? What should you look for in a floor plan?
These questions can help guide your search for the ideal home for you and your family:
- How many people do you need to accommodate? Will that number grow or shrink in the next few years? If you have young children or expect to in the near future, you’ll probably want their bedrooms to be close to the main bedroom. For teens and older, privacy may be a top priority. Also think about where the kids will play or hang out with their friends.
- What is your family’s lifestyle? Do you entertain a lot? Will you host big holiday dinners? Do one or more family members work or learn from home? Does anyone have hobbies that require additional space, like a music room, craft space or workshop?
- Do you host overnight guests often or expect a grandparent to move in? Look for a plan with a second en suite bedroom on the first floor.
- Think about any special furniture you want to keep. Will it fit well in the new home? If you have a large item such as a piano, is there a good place to put it?
- Is there a good flow of space throughout the home? Look at each floor plan and visualize your family going through a typical day in that house. Does the main bathroom work for two adults getting ready for work, for example? Are there enough bathrooms for all the children to get ready for school at the same time?
- Pay attention to the amount of storage space. Look for a daily drop zone or mud room, a utility closet for cleaning supplies, and a spacious coat closet by the front door.
- Is the garage large enough for your vehicles, bikes, outdoor toys, sports gear and tools? Do you need space for a workbench or tool storage?
