Frisco’s Grand Park Will Be Bigger Than New York’s Central Park
An ambitious new park will provide a vast outdoor destination close to new homes in Frisco TX. Grand Park will span over 1,000 acres in the center of Frisco, stretching between the Frisco Discovery Center at the northeast end and Lake Lewisville to the southwest.
The park’s design was approved by Frisco City Council at their January meeting. Voters had already approved funding for the purchase of the park land in 2006. Since then, design company IDEO worked with city leaders and community members to plan a park that would meet the needs and wishes of the diverse people who will use it. A section of the park encompassing Big Bluestem Trail opened in November 2022.
When completed, Grand Park will encompass a variety of landscapes and habitats, from natural wetlands to forests, grassy play areas and manmade hardscapes and structures. It will be divided into four themed areas for exploring, discovery, play and observation.
Planned features include an extensive network of trails, a 50-acre lake, playgrounds, an arboretum, wildlife viewing areas, a nature center and wildflower meadows. It will have facilities for hosting events such as farmer’s markets, community gatherings and classes.
The park will be a fantastic community asset for people moving into Landon’s Frisco communities of Lexington Frisco and the upcoming Fields community.
Fields is a brand new 2,544-acre multi-use luxury development off the Dallas North Tollway. It will be a city of its own with businesses, stores, restaurants, outstanding recreational opportunities and 9 new home communities. The Brookside North community will feature luxury homes by John R. Landon. These homes will be adjacent to the Fields Ranch East PGA golf course. Other resort-style amenities in Fields will include the Omni PGA Resort and the Universal Studios water park. Fields will also host a campus of the University of North Texas.
Public school students will attend Frisco ISD at Newman Elementary, Trent Middle School and Panther Creek High School. Legacy Christian Academy is nearby for families seeking a parochial school education.
