McKinney Tops National List for New Home Searches

Have you been looking for a new home in McKinney lately? If so, you’re not alone! Realtor.com, a national real estate website, has ranked the North Texas city second in the nation for new home searches, behind only Chicago’s historic Old Town neighborhood.

Why is McKinney so hot among home buyers?

There are several reasons. Dallas real estate expert and blogger Candy Evans says McKinney is fabulous because, “it offers a quieter, small-town style of living, yet is only 30 miles north of downtown Dallas.” Evans also notes that the proximity doesn’t matter because, “there are jobs all over Dallas and Collins Counties, spread out in ‘depots,’ like the Telecom Corridor in Plano, Frisco, Richardson and Arlington.”

McKinney itself has attracted companies like Raytheon, Torchmark, Encore Wire, and Vector Systems. It’s also home to the Collide Center, which offers the opportunity for investors to meet with startup companies and provide advice and potential capital to move businesses to the next level. Studies have shown that businesses participating in programs like the Collide Center double their chance of success after four years.

McKinney’s proximity to the DFW International Airport and the corporate McKinney National Airport also makes it an ideal location for large corporations and relocating executives. According to Jim Wehmeier, president of the McKinney Economic Development Corporation, “The completion of the Sam Rayburn tollway has resulted in an easy commute – about 20 minutes – to DFW.”

Employment opportunities are just part of the attraction home buyers have for McKinney. The community also offers exemplary schools, beautiful tree-lined streets, a charming historic downtown, as well as affordable and diverse housing. No where is that more evident than in Shiloh Lakes, Landon’s new home community.

This quiet neighborhood with homes for sale in McKinney offers some of the largest homesites the area has to offer. Buyers can choose from a variety of floor plans, ranging in size from 2,300 square feet to 4,200 square feet. There are one and two-story models available, with 4 to 6 bedrooms and 2 or 3-car garages. The larger model homes have space for a study, game room or media room.

All the homes in Shiloh Lakes feature Landon’s Energy Efficiency Package, which includes such features as DOW Styrofoam™ sheathing behind brick and siding, tankless water heaters, and Energy Star rated appliances. Landon’s green building techniques help ensure lower operating costs for homeowners, and great value 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
